A brief introduction to what The Musicians Workshop covers
THE AIMS OF THIS SITE
THE MUSICIANS WORKSHOP is an on-line resource to encourage young people to investigate the scope and potential of orchestral music and what it has to offer them. Today, many of us have had little or no exposure to traditional orchestral and classical performance. This may be because of lack of opportunity, or because our parents, and possibly even their parents were not exposed to it either.
By drawing on both local and international talent, the Musicians Workshop reveals that, far from being elitist, there is much about orchestral music to be enjoyed by everyone. For example, at the Babies Proms, children (and their parents) demonstrate that music is very much a part of who we are. Orchestral music crosses all generic boundaries, from classics to jazz and rock. The Workshop also includes choral music from liturgical to barbershop quartets.
